Ambassador Liu Xiaoming Held National Day Reception on the Occasion of the 57th Anniversary

On the evening of September 29th the Chinese Ambassador Liu Xiaoming and his wife held a reception at the Yanggakdo International Hotel, Pyongyang on the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Yang Hyong Sop, vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, Pak Kyong Son, Vice Department Director of the Central Committee of the WPK, General Kim Jong Gak, Vice Minister of the People's Armed Forces, Kim Yong Il, Vice Foreign Minister, Cho Jong Ho, Vice Foreign Trade Minister, Cho Chan Gu, Vice Culture Minister, Jeon Young Jin, Vice Chairman of the DPRK Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and other DPRK leaders attended the reception.

Ambassador Liu and Vice Chairman Yang Hyong Sop addressed the gathering one after another.

Ambassador Liu said "the past 57 years had witnessed the groundbreaking changes in China. The Chinese people have transformed their homeland from a poor and backward country to a thriving and prosperous nation in just a few decades, achieving a miracle in the history of the Chinese nation and of the world as well.

Ambassador Liu pointed out the Chinese people are now working hard for peaceful reunification of the motherland and striving for the modernization of the country in the middle of this century. The Chinese People are peace-loving people. A China deeply committed to peaceful development will make greater contributions to the peace and prosperity of the world.

China and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea are friendly neighbors. Our friendship was established and cultivated by the founding leaders of our two countries. I It is a firm and consistent policy of the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese Government to further strengthen and develop friendship and cooperation between China and DPRK. We are ready to work with our Korean friends to inherit the traditions, plan for the future, develop good-neighborly relations and strengthen cooperation to bring China-Korea relations to a new high.

I feel greatly honored to be a new Chinese Ambassador to DPRK. This is a glorious post with great responsibilities. I will spare no efforts in working with all of you to promote the friendship between our two peoples and deepen the cooperation between our two countries. I'm confident that with our joint efforts the friendly cooperative ralationship between China and DPRK will have a great future."

In conclusion, Ambassador Liu expressed his wish for the development of the China-DPRK friendly cooperation in Chinese, Korean and English. The banquet hall was resonated with applause pushing the National Day reception atmosphere to a climax.

Yang Hyong Sop extended his warm festive greetings to the Chinese people and wished China prosperity and smooth development and its people happiness and stability.

Yang went on that the founding of the PRC was an important event of historical significance in that it built the first-ever people's country in the vast expense of the Chinese land, shaped a new society and created a new life enabling China to free from centuries-old poverty and underdevelopment.

Yang continued that at present the Chinese party, government and people, inspired by the spirit of the 16th Party Congress, were gaining tremendous success in their effort to build a well-to-do society in an all-round manner. The Chinese economy was developing in a sustainable manner with an improving living standard while its international position was getting stronger. For all this the DPRK side felt happy and prayed for the smooth conduct of all its businesses.

Yang emphasized that the continued development of the DPRK-China relations of friendly cooperation constituted the consistent position of the DPRK party and government. The DPRK side firmly believed with the joint effort of the two parties, governments and peoples, the friendship between DPRK and China would certainly forge ahead demonstrating even greater viability and vitality.

About 200 people attended  the reception. Among them  were officials  from the DPRK party, government and army, diplomats from various countries and representatives of the international organizations and representatives of the Chinese residing in the DPRK.
