Ambassador Liu Met with DPRK Foreign Minister

On September 20th, 2006 Liu Xiaoming, the new Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK ,called on the DPRK Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun at the DPRK foreign ministry. Paek expressed welcome to the ambassador for his assumption of the post. Both sides had a dialogue in an intimate and friendly atmosphere.

Paek stated that it was in the interest of the two peoples to strengthen and develop the bilateral relations, and was beneficial to the peace, security and stability on the DPRK Peninsula, in Northeast Asia and the world as a whole. He continued that the friendship between DPRK and China was forged and nurtured by the old generation of leaders in the two countries, and the DPRK side was always mindful of it. And from now on the DPRK side would be willing to work together with the Chinese side to make tireless effort to push the relations forward in the direction indicated by the leaders of the two countries.

Liu said that the Chinese party and government attached great importance to the Chinese DPRK friendship and it was an unswerving policy of the Chinese party and government to continue to consolidate and develope the relations of friendly cooperation. Liu added the Chinese embassy in DPRK would coordinate and cooperate with the DPRK foreign ministry with a view to constantly pushing the relations of friendly cooperation forward.

Kim Yong Il, Kim Kye Gwan and Kung Sok Ung, vice ministers of Foreign Affairs of DPRK and Guan Huabing, minister counselor of the Chinese embassy and others were also present.

In the evening Kim Yong Il, vice foreign minister hosted a banquet at Ko Bang San Hotel in honor of the ambassador on behalf of the DPRK Foreign Ministry.
